Historic Swiss alpine retreat Suvretta House to reveal revamped spa in 2025

06 Sep 2024
Five-star Swiss alpine hotel Suvretta House, a 100-year-old St. Moritz landmark, has announced plans to refurbish and expand its existing spa into a three-level modern wellness retreat.

Situated 1,850m above sea level, the 181-key destination is set in a private estate amid the rolling valleys of St. Moritz.

The hotel’s existing 1,700sq m Suvretta House Spa offers stunning views of the Upper Engadine’s landscape of mountains and lakes. It will reopen in its new guise in 2025 following a total design transformation by Swiss architecture firm, Ritter Schumacher.

The first and second floors will be enhanced with new treatment rooms, a salon and nail bar, a high-tech fitness area, yoga rooms and a yoga terrace.

Plans also include the addition of experience showers, steam baths, an exclusive women’s sauna with forest views and relaxation areas with striking views of the Graubünden mountains.

Meanwhile, the third floor will be home to a new water experience featuring an outdoor whirlpool, a children’s pool and a 25-metre outdoor pool powered by a renewable FEKA system.

“The combination of indoor and outdoor spaces, breathtaking natural surroundings and chic interiors will create an oasis of relaxation for body and mind,” said the Suvretta House team.

Existing wellness facilities at the spa include an indoor pool, an outdoor whirlpool, a gym and a sauna area – featuring a finnarium, a sanarium, a vaporium and a caldarium.

Suvretta House Spa currently offers a selection of treatments provided by Cellcosmet, Cellmen and ilā.
